Invasive Species Challenge FAQ
FAQ
Can we enter with just an idea?
Yes, through the Innovation pathway. To score well, your idea needs to be well developed and tested in some way.
Does it have to be about pest animals?
No. Invasive weeds and plants count equally.
Does our project need technology?
No. Community action and hands-on work are just as valid.
Do we need to work with partners?
No, but involving others strengthens your entry.
Can a whole class work on one project?
Yes. The entry names up to three student representatives and one supervising adult.
Can more than one team from our school enter?
Yes, as long as each team has a different project and each student is named on one entry only.
Can we enter without a school?
Yes, through a recognised youth or community organisation with a supervising adult.
Our teacher hasn’t heard of the challenge. What should we do?
Share these guidelines with them, or with your principal. Every team needs a supervising adult, usually a teacher.
Do we need to register?
Yes. It’s quick, and it’s how we send you the marking criteria, consent forms, safety checklist, support details and reminders.
How many teams go to Switzerland?
One: the overall winning team (up to three students and one supervising adult). Two more teams win a visit in New Zealand.
