Collins (KCC)
Collins, a 14 year old Villars fellow from the rural Ghanaian town of Kokrobite led a workshop on the science of circular systems - the video is on the KCC's instagram. He worked with two visiting volunteer teachers from ZIS to prepare everything and he designed the presentation himself. Jane said "Other than Kabiosi he’s probably the person with the best knowledge of the KCC's aquaponics system. He’s at the Sankofa at every possible opportunity, he loves it!" Mountainly
Olivia is building Mountainly, an educational film and environmental storytelling company designed for a new generation of creators. At a time when social media and AI are accelerating content but distancing people from the real world, Mountainly seeks to reconnect individuals with the environments and communities in them.
Through a hands-on program focused on short-form documentary filmmaking, Mountainly empowers students and early-career professionals to tell meaningful, place-based environmental stories. Participants don’t just learn how to film, they learn how to observe, investigate, and communicate the human impact behind environmental issues. By grounding storytelling in real people and real places, the program brings humanity back into the narrative. Mountainly equips its cohort with the language, skills, and confidence to continue this work independently, amplifying awareness long after the program.
The inaugural cohort will be supported by a group of experienced filmmakers and educators, including Matt Aeberhard, an Emmy-nominated, award-winning wildlife cinematographer and Director of Photography.
The program is still in development, but to learn more visit www.mountainly.org and follow @mountainly_productions on Instagram to stay updated and support the emerging local filmmakers.
