02. The 4th Villars Institute Distinguished Lecture

Professor Subra Suresh is currently Professor at Large at Brown University and Vannevar Bush Professor of Engineering Emeritus at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He was Dean of the School of Engineering at MIT from 2007 to 2010 before being appointed as Director of the National Science Foundation (NSF) from 2010 to 2013. He served as president of Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) from 2013 to 2017 and of Nanyang Technological University (NTU) from 2018 to 2022. He received the National Medal of Science at the White House in 2023 for his exemplary achievements in science, technology, and innovation. He founded the Global Learning Council in 2014 which is based at the Villars Institute.

Professor Suresh will give the 4th Villars Distinguished Lecture on deep learning from nature and machines.
